    Finished the 6.5-06

My 300 WM was starting to fall off on accuracy,so I decided to build it into a 6.5-06 for a change.

    110 FLP flatback action trued
McGowen 26" Stainless Match 1-8 twist- 5.5 Shilen contour - 11* crown - bead blasted
    PTG .250 recoil lug
    Northland trued barrel nut
    SSS Competition trigger
Boyd's LH Featherweight Thumbhole stock - Royal Jacaranda - Pachmayr 1"pad - unfinished
I shaped, inletted the barrel channel, and then applied 10 coats of hand rubbed Tung oil for the finish
    EGW 20 moa base
30mm Burris Signature Zee rings - Medium
    Sightron SIII 6-24x50 LRMD scope

    Wow, indeed!
I think their website says the Featherweight Thumbhole can't be inletted for the heavier barrels. You showed us they can.
    That is really, really cool.

I inletted another one several years ago for my 12 FLVSS 223 that I bought from Stocky's when they were the only ones that had LH Boyd's stocks.

Can't beat any 06 based chambering, they will still be here when, all those other cartridges of the week have come and gone, mazel tov looks good too.

The 6.5-06 keeps drawing me to it.... Little more than a 260 but not the barrel burner of the mag 6.5's

You should follow the directions a little better the next time, you seem to have put the bolt on the wrong side of the action......Seriously though that's a nice looking rifle. Out of curiosity what twist rate is it?

Well,I guess I did leave that out!
It's a 1-8 twist rate. I built a 6.5 Creedmoor last year, and also have a DPMS LR-260H,so it was a no brainer to use this long action for a 6.5-06.

I finally was able to go shoot some test loads. Since I plan on using this rifle as a hunting rifle,I just loaded the rounds out to 3.385" OAL to fit in the magazine. I shot some Hornady 140 grain A-Max and Match BTHP bullets for this test session. I wasn't impressed with the A-Max's,but I probably need to load them out near the lands for improvement.
The rifle liked the 140 gr Match bullets with H4381. It shot several 5 shot groups in the.4's,but the best was this one-

Not too shabby for the first test session, and that was with the factory trigger. I had to send my SSS trigger in for repair, the trigger return spring was having some problems.
I got it back yesterday,so I'll put it back in for the next test session.

Very nice rifle and it looks like a shooter also. What velocity are you getting?
    Thanks,
