    Bolt Head Retaining Pin

I had my bolt head retaining pin break the other day causing the bolt to get stuck closed, now I got it out but cant seem to find anyone that has the pin. I need the large 0.150" pin and everywhere I have looked says its out of stock and Midway list that Savage quit making the larger one. Anybody have any ideas of where to locate one, or what are my other options a whole bolt assembly or can I just swap the firing pin and smaller pin in my current bolt?

Ever consider changing to the thinner firing pin? Less chance of the retaining pin breaking.
When I had it happen to my old 110 flat back, I swapped the pin & retainer. It seems to break a the most inopportune time.

By the way, I just looked in my stash cabinet. I have one if you need it.

Is all I have to change is the firing pin and retaining pin to update to the smaller one?

Seen midway has these two but not sure if both are the smaller ones and one just complete and other pin only. Will I need to buy a whole assembly or just the firing pin?

You'll probably have to adjust the firing pin protrusion length.
As I recall, all I did was replace the firing pin & retainer. I reused everything else on the bolt.

Yup. You'll need the new small dia pin and retainer pin. Transfer over your other pin assembly hardware. Set your protrusion. Ready to go.

Thanks Ill give midway a call today and see if that one is the small firing pin or large one. Is the protrusion very hard to set and what all tools would I need, I dont own a micrometer or anything like that so would probably have to go pick up one of those as well. Or would the complete firing pin assembly already be setup for protrusion and I could just drop it in?

You'll have to set it up yourself, dial calipers will work just fine.
