    What's my options

I have a Stevens staggerfeed short action with factory contour barrel. Will be used for hunting so as light weight as possible. Is Boyds it for this set up?

What's the general consensus on bell and carlson carbelit's? Never seen one but have had the duramaxx on a gun before. Are they heavy?

If its any help, I have a LA/ 22" sporter barrel in a Carbelite. Ready to hunt with a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmaster, Weaver bases/mounts, 1" pad, 1" nylon sling and three rounds of ammo it tips the scale at 7lbs-15ozs.

I have no idea what the stock alone weighs.

Must be lighter than factory cause mine all up with the factory wood stock weighs 9lbs. Anybody know where you can find one of these?

The folks over at McMillan will inlet however you choose.
Spend the money and get the Hunter's EDGE if you value light weight, top quality, and great CS.

Weight is not going to be a concern for this rifle, it will be shot mostly prone at steel a long way off.

I have a 110 in 243 with a Carbelite on it and I liked this stock so much, I purchased the BC Tactical Medalist for a SA in 308. I thimk they make excellent stocks.

But it IS a concern for the OP as he stated in his post.
To me "as light as possible" means a McMillan EDGE, a Brown Pound'r, or one of the Lone Wolf offerings if they're still in business.
Of these three the McMillan is the least expensive.
