Scope mount on .223 Axis receiver

Setting my new Axis up & have run into some problems. I am using the Weaver 46M, P/N 48502 base mounts & Weaver 49046 1" Medium, Quad Lock rings with a Weaver Nitrex TR-1 3x9x42 scope. When I try to put the scope into the cradle of the rings they are too far apart for the tube to fit properly. What part of the mounting pieces did I get wrong? I have the slot in the base mounts facing to provide the shortest distance & still does not fit properly. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Andy.

sounds like you need the "extended" bases, or a longer scope. i have no expierence with the Axis, so can't help you beyond that.

Scope is brand new so looks like I'll be checking into extended bases. Thanks!

Found a EGW 1 piece base from the Tactical Store for $35.99 shipped! It'll be on it's way here on Monday hopefully.
