like geargrinder said, as most bullet contain lead and copper, both not magnetic, shouldn't matter.

lol, I am serious, I working on storage for my barrels. I had a thread few moons back on how best to store the barrels.
A wine bottle like shelf won't work for me as I don't have the space.
I settled on a wall gun rack like storage they have in Gander Mountain or Dicks.
I am going to make a base out of pine with 2 wide and 1/4 inch deep holes for the barrels to sit on. for the top, I am putting in bungee cord but I want to add magnetic tool to keep the barrels from moving around.

You can get barrel bags and tubes from sinclairs so you can lean them in your safe or closet where it is dry!

It depends on what grade of SS the barrel is made of. I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head, but some grades of SS have more iron in them and magnets will stick to them. Normally not quite as well as straight steel but they will stick pretty well.

Yea, many don't think magnets will stick to a SS barrel, or that a Stainless barrel will rust also. I think it is called Austenitic stainless steel
Boots is right. It all depends on how much ferrous material(iron) is in the steel. Strong magnets will stick to the, but they are still not good candidates to hold much magnetism as proposed by the OP.

If you're going to use magnets I would recommend using these rather than that bar setup.

These will allow you to make your upper barrel rack just as you would for any gun cabinet, then just drill a shallow hole for these magnets to sit in flush with the surface and then cover with felt (optional).

I would not use felt, as it can hold moisture. I had a cabinet with felt and once I took one of my guns out and there was rust where it was touching the felt. Although it was not much, I still was surprised to see rust after being put up with care.
I just drilled 3/4" holes in a firring strip and mounted it horizontally off a shelf.
