German #4 vs target fine cross hair

    Good Thursday Morning!

I am looking at this scope which has a German #4 reticle, the center part of the reticle is not as thick.
So compared to a target fine crosshair, how much more is the thickness of the German #4?
how do I figure out how much either will cover at 600 yards?
    newbie from gr, mi.

    Maybe this will help.

This page shows the different reticles so you can compare them.

    AZ,
on the Nikon website the German #4 and fine cross both have the SAME width at the center.
But is that really the case?

The Fine Crosshair is definitely smaller than the #4. Are you going to punch paper or hunt with it? I'd go with the Fine Crosshair for paper personally.

Yes Sir, I agree that fine cross will be better for paper and it will be paper,
but the cheap bast*&% that I am, I am looking at a German #4 reticle and questioning if can serve dual purpose :-)

I really like the German #4 reticle for low light hunting and hunting in thick brush or dark timber, I consider it to be a hunting specific reticle. That said, you can certainly use it on paper if you want to and if you are looking at using the same scope for hunting and target I would pick the #4 over a fine crosshair.
