need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

Looking to work up a load for my Stevens 200 .243 22"barrel 9.25 twist.

Have 100grn Interbonds and IMR 4350.

I've seen charges from 36 to 42 grns with this combo, what's working for you?

Before you invest too much time and money with 4350, you may want to investigate Hodgdon Hybrid 100V.

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

Just start with the starting load and work up like normal, IMR 4350 has always given me superb accuracy in the .243 with bullets in the 70 - 100 grain range, I don't have my chrono data in front of me but the best I remember the speed was there too.

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

I know a lot of people don't like to give powder load info out, but 39.5 IMR4350 works good for me in the same gun!

Start in the 38's and work up

I was .010 off the lands

I could never get Varget to stabalize with anything over 70grns, but on 55 and 70's that is my powder of choice!

Do a search, you might find a lot of load info on the 243

Used Reloader 17 in my sons .243 with 105 A-Max. Bug hole five shot groups. Reloader 17 has a burn rate close to IMR4350. Check out the Hodgdon site. http://www.hodgdon.com for lots of load data.

I load 41.4gr of IMR 4350 with 100 gr Nosler Solid base bullets. Works real well and if I remember right the velocity was excellant.

Of course that's in my rifle not yours. Start lower and work up.

41.5 didn't group for crap, the 42s were worse.

Going to try the 41grns of IMR 4350 again, also going to try some IMR 4064 see if that helps.

Any signs of "overpressure"? How does the primer look after firing?

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

Try some loads from 39.0 to 40.0 and see what happens, sometimes too much powder is bad!

How far are you setting the bullet off the lands?

As stated above, my magic number is 39.5! 0.010 OFF the lands

38-40 shot well, 41 was better. Soon as this blizzard stops I'll hit the range.

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

Try some 107SMK's with 39.5gr IMR4350 .010 off the lands.

There are several people on this site with factory 243's and this load works perfectly for all of us. As stated before, I couldn't get Varget or RL15 to stabalize the 107. IMR 4350 did the trick. I have several loads that drill nails out of my VLP 243, 55gr, 70gr, and ofcourse the 107's.

Would like to try the MKs but for now I'm looking to get decent accuracy out of a bullet for hunting.

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

Try some berger 105's with the load I gave earlier! You gonna have to try something different until you find what your gun wants! Put the Bergers on the lands. Always start lower on the powder charge, I personally know what too much powder will do to a bolt! Bullets are cheap compared to a bolt! and of course YOUR own safety.

I push 100 gr. Sierra spitzer boat tails with 41.5 gr. of IMR 4350 in my Rem. 700. These are touched off with Rem. 9 1/2 primers. This will shoot 1/2" at 100 yrds.

Re: need load data .243 100 grn with IMR 4350

I will give you my loads for 55gr and 70gr NBT's that are <.300moa @ 100 in my factory Savage 243.

I personally don't see where I would need anything bigger, but I do know factory Federal 90gr NBT's are good in my gun also!

H4831 IMR4350 IMR4064 and Varget. The 4064 was very accurate at 100 yards with the 100grn bullets. Two touching with another within .5, as this is a deer round I didn't break out the calipers.
