Hornaday (formerly Stoney Point) OAL modified case?

I haven't been able to find a Hornaday OAL modified case for the 6.5x47mm Lapua, will Hornaday fabricate one? I guess Stoney Point sold the design to Hornaday?
    Thanks

You can make your own all you need is too drill out the primer hole with a 19/64 drill then tap it with a 5/16-36 tap

I wasn't certain of the drill size, I'll stop and buy a tap for it.....

I bet the Tap will cost more than ordering one from Hornaday..... lol......

Question? -- case mouth tension -- Do I size the case then use my Dremel and cut an X vertical in the case mouth???? I've done this on another caliber, worked great......

if a fired case currently fits in your gun and the bullet slides easily in the mouth, you are all set. the fired case would duplicate using neck sized cases.

the tap will do more then one case though for the cost. Hornaday will only do one case fir there cost
Why you could even make money renting it out!

After a few moments thought, I'll buy the TAP. I'll need to rig a little jig to hold the case vertical and stable and your right I still have a couple of cartridges that need cases made....

If you have a lathe, metal or wood(depending on your chuck) easy to do the drilling.

5/16-36 Use a fired case before you resize it so that the bullet will be a slip fit in the neck. I've used drill bit shanks that are a few thousands over bullet diameter in a drillpress to open the neck if it's to tight. Just use the shank end of the drill as a expander and the drillpress as a press.

Re: Hornaday (formerly Stoney Point) OAL modified case?

I found that I didn't have the drill bit, I bought one .............. I went a couple of places in town, didn't find a tap, so I ordered 3 of them on the net.... With the freight they ran about $8/ea... If I find that I don't need the other 2 I'll let someone have them for cost.... They should be here tomorrow.... In the mean time I also ordered a Hornaday 6.5x47L, it arrived today and I've already used it on 2 different bullets........ max length for the Hornaday 129gr SST in my chamber is 2.755" to touch the lands...... A little shorter with a Sierra 120gr BTHP

Blue Avenger --- I don't happen to have a lathe..... any idea what I can use to hold the cases so that they aren't damaged?

Smokey 262 -- the taps came in, I'll PM you.... They are the correct size and thread, I tried one of them out.....

Re: Hornaday (formerly Stoney Point) OAL modified case?

I have used a couple small hose clamps. They have enough surface area to grip without crushing the case. I then place them gentley in a vice so the screw heads wedge against the jaws of the vice so the torque of the drill and tap do not spin them. Sorry, don't "splain" things very well.
