    Barrel theads

Hey guys quick question about your prefit barrels. I picked up a blank and trying to turn it into a full chambered barrel. On the chambered end how long are the threads? Thanks for any help. the stock barrel is about 1.25. Should this work for my new barrel?

Are you going to use the barrel nut our turn a shoulder? I have a barrel stub for one with a nut and it measures @ 1.580". The drawings I have from TSJC show 1.565". That's for a small shank. If you're going to turn a shoulder it's a whole different story.

What recoil lug are you going to use? If you're upgrading you want to account for that additional thickness if you want the nut to completely cover the threads. If nothing else find a local smith and get a Remington take off lug from him and lap it for flatness. it's not as good as an aftermarket lug but infinitely better than a factory Savage lug.

if you turn it just 1.6" you won't have room for all of your barrel nut, and it also depends on how thick of recoil lug you are using. Don't thread it like you would a shaft or your will have accuracy problems.
