    IMR 4350

Anybody have good luck with IMR 4350 in a 22-250 with 50 gr. bullets? I have a bunch I got for free and am going to try it but thought I'd ask if anyone has any feedback prior to loading it.

Much too slow burning to get good velocity out of 50gr bullets. I use it in my 22-250 AI with 75gr bullets and can use almost a case full of powder.

But my nosler book shows it throws 50s like 3800 which was the second fastest in the book.

Take this for what it's worth, considering the source and all......

My old Hodgdon manual shows 40 grains is good for 3540 fps. That's the listed max.

My old Speer and Sierra don't list that powder at all.

I'd trade it off for some H380, WW760/H414. Maybe even AA2520.
Or you could save it 'til you get your 7mm WSM...

Yes, you need a hot powder, I use Varget and RL-15, the pic below may help you start with the 50gr.

It probably depends on the lot# of powder, barrel length, etc., but in another book, "First
Edition Nick Harvey's Practical Reloading Guide" (he's an Aussie), the max load of 40gr of
IMR4350 got him a speed of 3650fps. I cannot find what kind of bullet he was using.

We all can sit here and poo-poo this powder for 50gr bullets, but apparently no one really
knows for sure. ICUDIEN, for the price ya paid for it, you'll lose nothing by trying it. If it
were me, and I could get 3600fps and could cover a group with a dime or even a nickel,
    I would be tickled pink!

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing if it doesn't group then I won't shoot it. I was just trying to see if anyone had tried it and if it was accurate.

Like the man said, if you got, shoot it. You certainly can't hurt anything and I doubt that the gophers will complain.
