Possible to much head space ?

New .223 Predator.
Cases seem to dirty to me, in contrast, Cases that come out of my 30-06 almost look unfired.
Possibly to much head space ?
Cases are once fired, full lenght sized
Left Case had Varget, right Case had H-335

How much powder? Looks to me like a very light load.

I have to say it's pretty hard to see any detail on those cases, are you talking about sooty necks?

A starting load or low pressure load can cause sooty necks. Sometimes just bumping up the powder charge can "fix" it. Other times you may have to change primers or even powder to fix it.

Work hardened brass can also have that effect. How many times fired is the brass?

Loads are well above starting loads

40 V-Max load is 26.5 H-335

55 V-Max load is 25.5 Varget

Both use gold Medal Match Primers

Varget is known to be "dirty". They are accurate in certain loads but man they get dirty. H335 shouldn't be as bad.

Sooty necks are OK. You might have a problem if the soot was down past the shoulder, but yours are not. You really have no problem. Stop worrying.

Bump the powder charge up "just a little" and the necks should clean up. You're not getting a good seal. Don't see any problems.

Thanks for the input.
I checked Head space and it is fine.
As I shoot more, the rifle is getting more accurate and the Sooty necks
are Not so Sooty anymore ???
