powder help for 300 savage cal

I have a savage 99 in 300 savage cal. I would like to ask what is the preferred powder for reloading this cartridge ? I bought some Hornady fmjbt's in 150 gr mainly for paper punching at our club range, 50 to 300 yds. Is this an accurate bullet to start with ?

The 4064's will do you very well for 150-168g pills.

I use 40 grains of IMR 4064 with 150 grain Remington Core-lokts. Shoots just like the factory Remington ammo. I get around 1 1/2 - 2 inches at 100 yards.
