    Pillar stock ?

Could someone please let me know when Savage started pillar bedding the synthetic stocks ? Also when did they start putting Mossy oak brush camo on them ? I assume these are the predator models. The reason I ask is I would like to know if the stock I ordered has pillars. This is the part # from Numrich gun parts 1433320. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

In 1995 they installed a front pillar only. In 1996 they came with both front and back pillars. Same for the wood stocks.

Predator Hunter with the brush camo came out in 2007.

Since the later Stevens 200's have pillars, it's not to surprising that a Savage stock has them. "But", they don't always come all the way up through the stock and touch the bottom of the action. Hope yours do! Good Luck......Jim

I noticed that, too. Defeats the whole purpose.

I had a couple like that along the way. I knocked them out of the stock with a drift punch, and used a "Fosner" bit the same size as the bottom of the pillar, and drilled in far enough for them to reach the bottom of the action, then epoxied them in. Now their existence is justified.
