Finally found some .300blk barrels ready for the striker. I have a .750" dia straight taper on it now in .221fb, really handles well. Thinking of using the sporter taper for the .300blk? He has a Sinarms varmint and I've had or have 4 of them, all good. One is a BFG, don't know anything about them.
Does the heavier barrel add anything in this caliber? Mild recoil if it's anything like the .221fb?
These are 16.5" so they can screw onto my rifle action as well.
I think the varmint contour is about perfect. My 18" 338/375 Ruger is a Sendero profile, the 6BR is a bull barrel, the 300 RUM is a sporter, and the 284 is a varmint. The varmint and sendero profiles (18" and 19") balance the best for me in the center grip stocks. The 6br bull barrel is in a rear grip and it does alright but it's a little nose heavy. The sporter profile just doesn't balance as well off of a rest.

I carry in the field and shoot with strap or bipod. I'll handle the striker today and decide.
I believe mine with a 17" varmint barrel weigh right at 9lbs with scope. I carry mine with a sling or holster/scabbard when hunting.
Got another Sinarms on the way from 300blktalk member. He has a couple more.
Since the Striker center grip is originally set up for a sporter contour barrel, do the varmint and heavy barrels still free float in the stock?
Rupe, as many barrels as you have, you should know this one
They need to be opened up quite a bit. I just run a 1" dowel with some sand paper wrapped around it through the channel until the barrel fits.

Here is one prior to painting and brake install in an opened factory stock. Opening it makes the top sides of the forearm area thin, but I have seen no ill effects.

Here is another idea for a striker. This is 1 1/4"PVC pipe that I attached to the stock with an oak 1x4, bolts, and two pieces of strap steel. The sides of the stock were lined with cast bullets then bondo. Weight 14 lbs for a prairie dog rig in 243.
Snowgetter, you are talented youngman and yes my Striker stock is dipped. Numerous patterns to choose but that was a no brainer for me.

Trapper believe it or not, all my barrels fit without having to do anything to the stock. They just drop in nice and neat. I check them to make sure they are free floated. So far I've been lucky. But one of these times I'll have to do some sanding I sure.

Handled a .22rimfire IZH target pistol several months ago, what a great fit on the grip with a back of hand wrap around. That would be a super stock for a light recoil caliber striker, off hand field shooting. Maybe I could talk the owner into getting a mould cast. Whata ya think Tinkerer?
That would cool to try, I've never handled one. Sounds like an interresting idea you have Appleseed!
Do they come in different hand sizes or are they adjustable?

Adjustable in 2 or 3 ways. The one I fooled with had a back of hand wrap around similar to a thumbhole stock and a bottom plate that snugged the cradle.
There's always duct tape or ace bandage.
I'm all for duct tape, more bang for your buck! ace bandages lose there stretch after just a few uses.
