    Savage/Stevens .223 and AI magazine

I finally got an AI .223 magazine for my Stevens 200, .223 in a McRee stock. The bolt would not come back far enough to pick up a round from the mag. The solution was to replace the front baffle on the bolt with a .308 front baffle, which lets the bolt come back further.

I would think that this would apply to all bottom metal for AI mags when used with a Savage .223.

I just came across this problem myself.

Good to know that it's an easy fix. Phew!
