Why not just get a stock for one of the Specialty guns, either a 10/110 Predator or an 16/116 Bear
Hunter instead of trying to modify a stock that isn't made for your action?
I have a bottom bolt release savage 114 stainless DBM 270 and the wood stock has some amazing figure in it. I hunted it this year and scratched it up some so would like to get a synthetic to put it in for bad weather hunting. Here the question:
Will it fit in a long action top bolt release DBM stock? Or could I modify a side release stock to fit the bottom bolt release?

I agree that getting a take off stock designed for the bottom bolt release would be preferred but I haven't been able to find one. That why I was alcurous if the older style stock would work.
Just call Savage and buy one from them.
A Savage LA CF bottom bolt release will fit into a Savage CF side bolt release stock. Some minor dremel work may be required in the trigger guard area.
You can repair the finish on the 114 walnut stock using 0000 steel wool and several coats of hand rubbed Tru-Oil. Raise deeper dings with a wet paper towel and hot iorn. Wet sand with Tru-Oil and 600 grit sand paper. Just don't get too aggresive and sand through the factory finish and transparent base coat to expose bare wood.
