So with the help of you all I started my long range precision build of my first rifle. I got a Savage 11 HH, .308. I intend to get a Boyds Tacticool Stock, however for the matches I want to try they said I need a DBM. Having know that before I would have just ordered the 10-FP. Anyways I do not see a option for the Boyds Tacticool stock for a bull barrel in DBM. The issue is the HH has a heavy/medium barrel and I was told to get the bull barrel tacticool.
Since I need a DBM and will order the parts from savage, can I have Boyds inlet the bull version for me or will I have to do this myself? If anyone has done this let me know and show pics! I can't afford much more for a stock so this was perfect as I only have until April or I'll miss out on the rifle clinic I want to attend.
Also can anyone recommend a good brake for the HH 308?

Hmm never heard of his brake. They just twist on on right? Why would.you need someone to install it for you?

The rest of us buy shim kits & time them ourselves. If you do any barrel swapping, you'll need shims. Trust me on this. They're only a couple rubles per package at Brownell's or Midway, etc.

That it for a factory barrel. In was told I need the bull barrel version which they don't offer in dBm. Waiting to hear back but my point being its not a factory sporter barrel its a heavier one. So will that work fine and still free float the barrel?
Also I wanted bull as when I replace barrel to .260 I was gonna go heavy barrel and didn't want to have to sand for hours or screw up my stock trying
Edit. NM point b is 9in from the receiver. Sanding that wood to free float your barrel would be very easy and quick

Deep sockets wrapped with sandpaper work well, you have a broad choice of sizes.

While I like that one, I can't see spending $120 more then then Boyds, as it is not adjustable...

Yeah that's nice. Honestly though is it worth an extra $120? Wouldn't glass bedding it be good enough?
The question you should ask is "How much is my time worth?"
$120 for aluminum bedding, or $35 in bedding compound + X hours of my time doing the bedding plus X hours lost working up loads while my bedding compound sets up ;-)
I kind of took the same road you're on but I went the chassis route. I went with the MDT LSS. By the time I had priced a good aluminium block stock, mags, and, quality dbm I was right around the same price as the chassis with all the fixins. I can switch between my 308 HH barrel for hunting and plinking to my 260 target barrel within minutes and very little if any change in my POI. For me it was the most versatile set up without too many compromises. Very happy with setup. The aluminium block does make a difference for long range.

I'm not opposed to going with a chassis system. How does the rear shoulder stock work with that chassis? I looks incomplete and very little detail on the site. You got pics of your rifle in it you could post here? Would greatly appreciate it.
edit: never mind my phone wasn't loading the bottom. Use ar15 stuff with it.. Dunno if I want that style but if you got any pics it would be great. Especially with the HH barrel in it, thanks!
I still waiting to hear from boyds. I keep trying go call and hold to only come to a leave a message beep. So I left another one.
I suppose cdi is the way to go with the factory inlet and the boyds. I just don't think I want another ar style/looking rifle, I want a stock that's more like the m40 rifle.
My main goal was to stay under 10 lbs with a loaded 10 rd magazine, because I wanted this rifle to be a hunting/target rifle. Thats the main reason why I went with a minimalist chassis and stock. It works very well for me and in my opnion got the most bang for my buck. The set up gives me flexibility, precision, and accuracy without having to lug around a heavy rifle. Boyds are great stocks but youre going to have to do or have someone else do a very good bedding job for your long range shooting. This is my opinion based on my experience.

Yeah it is a good setup I'll admit. Its just not really what I wanted. I dunno, I was going to bed it myself.. The price of the Boyds and the cdi dBm is about the same. But I'd have to spend more on buttstock and stuff if I go with chassis. Sure would be easier though!
