The Hog hunter should have had a new offering .... in 358 Federal, a perfect combo IMHO.

Agreed! I would be buying one if they were so inclined as to offer it.

358 Federal? I have heard of no such beast. Now 338 Federal, that is a well known animal.

Exactly why I'd be ordering it. A gun with an error on it like that could only increase in value.

Perhaps. For someone who does not know any different, they might end up pulling all there hair out trying to find ammo.

I still would like to see a stainless/synthetic lightweight hunter.

I would also like a stainless/synthetic lightweight hunter. I will be building something similar for deer season next year.

The FCP-SR is no longer shown on the website. Hmm. It was in the Law Enforcement section. I guess that I'm glad I got one last summer.

I don't see 10FP-SR or FCP-K either.. Looks like they cleaned up their LE line a bit. Anybody knows what's up with 10P-SR and 10TR? Or production of those was officially stopped last year?

Like the poor guy at a LGS one day. I was barely in the door when he jumped on me like a bulldog on a pork chop.

"Wadda ya need, I'll get it for you".

    Ammo

    "What caliber"?

    270-08.

He looks over the ammo rack a few times "I don't see any, we must be sold out. I can order some in if you want".
Each morning eat a live green toad, it will be the worst thing you'll have face all day.

I figured as much, I just figured a lil' ribbin' was in order.

Bill, I hear ya. I had a similar situation awhile back. I was in at a LGS talking to the owner about the 6-WSM I had just built at the time, and I had a dummy round I was carrying as a pocket piece, and was showing it to the shop owner during our conversation. Another patron had come in and was listening to us. He started asking what it was and how far and accurate it was and I told him what my findings were, and he proceeded then to ask the owner to order him one and get some ammo coming. It took us a few minutes to get him convinced that it was a custom wildcat and there was no place he could order a complete gun or ready made ammo for it, that it must be hand loaded. At first he acted a bit ticked off that it couldn't just be bought, but finally I think it all sank in and then he got it.

Well I explained it wasn't that hard to build such things using Savages as a base and with proper handloading, but I got the impression he was more of one of those "I buy the coolest thing I can to impress my buddies, but I really know nothing about any of it, and don't wanna learn" kind of guys. He lost interest immediately when I told him it was going to require hand-loading. I did mention there was a forum on-line that he could learn about everything he would need to know, but he just waved it off.

    Oh well I tried.

From what I can tell those are distributor exclusives, which is why they've never been on Savage's main site. As of last week I still saw retailers with TRs, but that doesn't mean much.

Heh, I have a TC Contender in .357 Herret...

    Pictured:357 Herret 200gr Sierra over 32gr IMR4895

I have been thinking of making a Hog Hunter with that chambering as a backup for the TC

Around the 20th-21st of January they built a lot of 10TR's, no telling where they're going though.
