    Question about a McRee's stock.

I just got done putting a Savage 10 action based build into a McRee fixed stock and the tang doesn't float. It is torqued per the instructions that came with the stock to 60 inch pounds.

Should I relieve the stock to make the tang float or just run it as is? This my first time using a chassis type stock, so I'm unsure if the tang floating rule would apply? The only place it contacts is the center of the tang under the safety.

Shoot it and see before you do anything drastic. You might also call Scott McRee and see what he says.

It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!

No. Do not remove any material. We are talking about a very precise machine fit. Trust me, it works the way it is, and it works very well.
