    barrel help

ok i have a savage 111 in .300wm with the factory stock on the gun. im ordering a new barrel for the gun and want to know , what is the largest contour that a factory stock will fit up to? im not really a fan of any of the aftermarket stocks available , besides one of the mcmillians but that is like $600 so ill pass on replacing the stock. so does anyone know what size the stock will fit up to without contact with the barrel?

If you're not going to open up the barrel channel in the stock, I'd stick with the same contour to avoid contact issues, otherwise you should be able to go with a magnum contour with a little sanding of the channel, or a light varmint contour with a little more work. You just don't want the barrel touching the stock whichever way you decide.
