what do you guys use/reccommend for recoil pads

i totally forgot last night when i ordered my Boyds stock and now i'm looking at a sore shoulder with the 1/2" pad they put on their stocks . I should have got the 1" pad but it's to late now ,so what aftermarket pad can i slip over the Prairie hunter stock that will fit well and soak up more of the recoil so i don't screw my shoulder up more than it is now

Don't even bother with a slip over. If your going to do it, do it right and get a grind to fit pad. Limbsaver or pachmayer are the best with the pachmayer being easiest to work with IMO.

I'm going with a limb saver on my new Boyds stock since what comes with it is less than desirable...

"2111", I use the Limbsaver slip on pads a lot. On Boyds & Stockys, I can get a small size on with a large over it for bench rest shooting. With the extra length of pull, I really have to lean into it, but it really absorbs the recoil, and prevents "scope eye". I get mine at Walmart because they have the best price. They are Limbsavers but are marketed as "Winchester". I guess because of the extra clothing, etc., I never notice recoil when hunting, so I don't use them for that. For me, "form follows function" ;-)

    Good Luck-Good Shooting.....Jim

You can also try a Past recoil shield.

Good point! I think Limbsaver makes 1/2 thick slip on's too that wouldn't add so much length.

I did same, forgot to ad limbsaver on Boyds Featherweight thumbhole stock, I contacted cust. service the next day and asked to ADD 1" limbsaver on stock that had not even started processing and they told me that I would have to cancel order, charge me a restocking fee of 12%-15% and then reorder. You know, that kinda irritated me a lil, here I am wanting to buy another item from them but they will still hit me with a "re-stocking charge" for something that has not even been un-stocked to begin with. I'm want to cancel my order totally, pay the restocking fee and forget about it, but I want the **** stock. geezzzzz-----If any of Boyds people read this and can assist me with some good customer support, PM me
