New Axis II with the accutrigger

I received a shooting industry magazine yesterday with a Savage add for the new Axis II. It looks like they are putting out a couple of models this year that will have the accutrigger. This may be old news, but I though I would share just in case. In my opinion the accutrigger will make the Axis so much more of a player.

Thanks to teebirdhyzer's post, I did a little research:

Although I have no confirmation from Savage, it looks like the Axis will be available (as the Axis II) with the accutrigger later on this year.
They will have 22" barrels and will also be available in the XP configuration with probably a Weaver Kaspa 3x9x40 scope mounted.

They will likely have new youth models available as well, chambered in 223 Rem, 243 Win, and 7mm-08 Rem, in plain, camo and muddy girl camo.

Chambering MFG MDL # UPC Details
    223 Rem 22221 011356222213 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    22-250 22222 011356222220 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    243 Win 22223 011356222237 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    7mm-08 Rem 22224 011356222244 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    308 Win 22225 011356222251 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    25-06 Rem 22226 011356222268 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    270 Win 22227 011356222275 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    30-06 Springfield 22228 011356222282 Scope, Accutrigger, 22" barrel, blue
    243 Win 22229 011356222299 Youth, Scope, Accutrigger, 20" barrel
243 Win 22230 011356222305 Youth, Muddy Girl Camo, 20" Barrel, with scope

Thanks to 1shot1kill on the nchuntandfish forum for some of this info.
There are other models, but the above info is all I could glean at this time.

Very cool! I wonder if it will have a modified/redesigned accutrigger, or if the bracket will be more like the one from the 110s?

One of the sites I saw said that it would be about $40 more than the comparable standard Axis. Not too bad if that's the case. But, I did find two sites that have them listed for about $412 for the 243 XP (both listed as out of stock), which was about $66 more than their standard Axis package. Neither are sites that I'm familiar with.

I've read decent things about the Kaspa scopes, but I've never tried one myself.

I wonder if that also includes improvement to the stock? Ruger is coming out with revamped versions of it's American rifle series which are looking to put more outstanding features at a low price point in consumer entry-level rifles than I've ever seen before. We win!

40 bucks more for an Accu-trigger sounds good to me.

Hmm I think I would base some of my new builds on the axis if it had the factory accutrigger.

I honestly just prefer the enclosed qction on the Axis over the open action of the 10/110 series. Perhaps its from all my time in the desert and I'm just tired of cleaning sand out of rifles or maybe it just makes more sense to me!? Regardless they are great to build on!

Exactly. I want some lrp left hand actions but that is not going to happen unless I buy them and send them to Fred.

At that MSRP, I might even purchase two of them.

I wonder why they insist on the girl-pink thing. My daughter (every bit a teenage young woman) can't stand pink.

I think it's to make guns more palatable to the anti gun crowd. Just my thought on that.

My daughter wants one of the pink camo ones bad. I don't want to get one since it will get handed to the boy in a few years then I'll end up buying another one!

Hehehe thomae just the opposite for my little girl...34 years old and got the pink camo on her Toyota truck, wanted/got pink handles for her carry gun and has it on her bow!!
Welcome to my home.....FYI..... That locked door you kicked down was for your protection.... not mine!!

It's all good. Isn't it nice that daughters are all different? I think so.
If pink camo is what she wants, (or doesn't want) it's all good with me.
