    royalties, hahaha

Guns and Ammo magazine reviewed the Les Baer LBC-AR and ammo in their latest edition (March 2010).

    1. Les Baer 264 LBC-AR ammo is 6.5 Grendel made by Black Hills. In this way they do not have to pay royalties using the Grendel name. They make the ammo with either 123gr AMAX or 123gr SMK, and there may be others. They just have their own headstamped brass. They tested 20" and 16" barrel rifles. Ammo was ~2480fps for 123gr bullets in the 20" and ~2400fps in the 16" barrel rifle. Very accurate too, with average groups 0.65-0.75" at 100 yards.

    2. The Les Baer 264 LBC-AR gun is a 6.5 Grendel rifle, without the Grendel name.

    3. The 6x45 LBC-AR for both the ammo and rifle use a .223 brass necked up to 6mm. Again, Black Hills makes the ammo with LBC headstamp. The 85gr SMK ammo was 2780 fps in a 20" barrel rifle, and 100gr SMK was 2639 fps. Again, very accurate rifle with groups 0.65" at 100 yards.

Interesting that Les Baer did not neck the 264 LBC-AR brass (6.5 Grendel) to 6mm and use it in their 6mm rifle. Then it would be the same as the 6mm-AR and result in maybe 150-200 fps more. 6mm-AR shooters would like to have factory brass too.

had read that 'someone' was coming out with factory 6x45 ammo, now I know. Saw a Les Baer 6.5 grendel AR at the range a couple of weeks ago, guy was using the Lapua brass and handloads...it shoot well.

Had a 264 LBC AR. Only factory rounds I shot in it were 6.5 Grendel. And, then they were fireformed to the LBC.

    Great round in an AR

    Totally different type of cartridge.

For what the intended purpose of the 6.5 Grendel, it can't be beat. Very low recoil, supersonic velocity at 1000 yds using a short 20-21 inch barrel. Extremely long barrel life and very, very accurate.

If you are after power, than the 6.5 Grendel is not for you, but if you are after a very light recoiling gun that will take dear and boar at 300 yds, then this is for you !
