Mike can build anything, he should patent that rig!

I believe that's the first one he built for an 1899 and not a 99 correct?

How does it attach to the front? I know that is the location of the rear iron sight, but how does it attach? Thanks.

They slide into the dovetailed groove on barrel..You would slide it on to the barrel before you bolted it to the tang....

Dovetail groove? What year did that start? I don't think I have that.

That sight taps out side ways, and leaves about a 1/2 inch ,or 3/8 groove in the barrel. The groove has a reversed bevel and that why it can only be tapped in side ways

That's a new Weaver K4 with Burris signature standard rings (.270"). There's only about 2 card stock's worth of clearance between the mount and the bell, so folks might want to go with a medium ring. Or a smaller bell - The K4 is 45.5mm. It shoots fine though - the .303 doesn't recoil enough to be an issue.

He made me one for my 1899 takedown. Mine is made 1911 and had slightly different distance to front sight. Sent measurement and he whipped one up. Fits great, looks great, solid as rock.

If you don't mind my asking, what is he asking for these? Good to know if (and when!) I pick up another 99 that isn't drilled. Thanx
