    Stevens 311H with vent rib

Hello, I'm knew to the forum, but I have lurked and enjoyed for some time. I recently came into possession of a Stevens 311 h with vent rib, 28" choked mod/full 20ga. Never heard of one like this and I am wondering how common are the vent ribs or if it's aftermarket ? It's a great field/small game gun that I will never part with. Just curious about it. Thanks in advance.

Off the top of my head I can't remember when the H series started on that gun????

Can you give me a partial serial number to date it with and I'll look it up in the catalogs.

Might be an experimental one, but I've never seen any of the 311 series with an original vent rib. They saved that for the "Fox" Model B that is a gussied up 311.

Suspect it was added by somebody that liked your 311 as much as you do!

Any markings on it? Try a magnet, is it aluminum or steel? "Glued" on, screwed on, or soldered? All these details would give you clues (as would a tiny stamped name like "Simmons" or "Poly Choke".....common aftermarket brands).
