    Savage #12 Extractor

Crap! While cleaning the bolt of my .223 Savage 12FV, I inadvertently caused the extractor (part #12L) to come off and while I still have that part and the extractor spring (part #12M) the 1/8" steel ball (part #12N) is history!

Is this something I have to get directly from Savage????

If you have a half decent hardware store locally they may have the .125s. Better yet replace the .125" with a .140" (9/64").

If stang can't help I have about a dozen or so 125s. I don't have any of the .140s at the moment.

I've got a bunch of the .014 bearings. PM me with your address and I send you a couple.

What is the advantage of the .140 over the .125?

The .140" is a closer fit in the bore in the bolthead and the extractor detent. Many times with the smaller .125" the extractor doesn't always return to it's "home" position and fully engage the extractor groove in the case.

BTW, thank Fred (Sharpshooter) for that mod.
