Possum1 some are some aren't. The ones that say "mil-spec" usually are not.

You should be able to put weaver style rings on a picatinny base. The dimensions are not that critical.

The 1 pc egw base runs about the same price and will fit weaver rings -- just another options for you and I love the bases they make.

+1 very hard to beat for the price.

    Hi Possum

The Profile of the rail are identical. Width across the points etc.

The difference is the cross cuts that the rings anchor to.

Picatinny cross slots are .206 with a tolerance of plus .008 and Minus 0
The spacing of the slots is .394 from center to center. It took me a wile to realize that it is 10mm

Weaver rings sometimes use a bolt as the cross stop that fit into the grooves. We have measured different brands of bases
that range from .140 to .180 in size. There does not seem to be much consistancy in the spacing from slot to slot which makes
it harder to interchange scopes from one bullet launcher to another.

Weaver rings will fit a picatinny base.
Picatinny rings will NOT fit on the typical weaver style cross slots although Leupold Mk4 rings use a smaller cross stop.
Many Picatinny rings use Square well secured cross bolts or lugs which hold up better than a smallish threaded cross bolt.

    see this page for spec

    hope this helps

It is great to see George the owner of EGW on this forum to give such good insight to our questions.
I was considering purchasing a one piece base from one of his competitors. But after reviewing his product along with his support here on this forum, I will purchase his one piece base.
    Thanks for the support!

1 - I am assuming you are talking about just EGW rails? If not, be aware that not all Weaver rails are the same dimensions across the flats. Some more narrow than others.

2 - This is not always true. I have seen a few Weaver bases that would not fit on a mil spec picatinny rail, but they are rare. I can't remember which brand / make they were but I do have at least two sets that don't work.

    Oh I agree,
There are bases from China that are .015 under spec and probably some over spec. (even some recognized
US brands are made in China unfortuatly)

AR uppers that are small, some even have the Picatinny look but the spacing is wrong.
