Pre rut is finally here. Called him up with rattling horns and a grunt call, shot em with my creedmoor. He's a 5 1/2 year old, they just don't get real big here in these pine thickets

South Mississippi. There is some big deer in the state, but in the southern part of the state, if your not on a river bottom, you take what you can get. Lol

I'd take that one anyday. I hunt in west central Alabama every year. Same scenario; rolling piney hills. Rut should be cranking up soon over there. Getting anxious.

Yep!!! The rut here peaks out usually around January 15th. I like it now right before it gets heated up, love callin for em.
