    Stevens 87a????

I recently bought a Stevens 87a for $129. I know a little about the gun, i know they "like to jam" but myn seems to cycle and everything.. Now i noticed mine has a compartment inside the buttstock and i was was wondering if the Stevens model had that? I also want to know if there is anyway to date these things??

Really hard to date those guns.

Sav22 on this site would be my go to guy for dating the rimfires, he's got piles of research on these guns.

    He should be along shortly.

I don't usually look at this section, just happened to see it had to do with a 22. It's hard to date these, it can somewhat be done by looking at different features. My main interest is 22 slide actions and I do not have that much info on 87's & related. There is a lot of information on them here that might answer all your questions - http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=344753
