    Model 12 LRP

So this is my first post here. I was shopping for a model LRP in 260rem, and was told by Cabelas that this is no longer being produced by Savage. It was my intent to use this a as base for a long range comp. Rig. Can anyone confirm the info I received? I will most disappointed if I have to figure another way to get there from here, afraid costs would jump quickly.

Savage's website still shows that caliber as an option for that model. It is possible however that the website has not been updated with what is and isn't being offered for 2014, but since the 260 is one of the most sought after caliber for tactical competition shooters I seriously doubt they are getting rid of it

That was my thought as well. But hearing that from cabelas (you know the guys that will sell you anything) had me a whole lot of worried. Thanks for the input though.

I wouldn't trust a Cabelas gun counter worker on what Savage is or isn't currently making.

I would Google search by the specific model number (in your case, I would Google "Savage 19138"). That's how I found my 12 F Class.

If you go with Bud's be advised that they will hold your money for 15 business days before they do ANYTHING, even if the gun is sitting on a shelf in their store. I guess this is their way of getting interest-free loans.

I bought this exact rifle right before Christmas from a dealer on gunbroker, believe I paid 925.00. Couldn't be happier with it.

I think they may have discontinued one of the bench models. Thats probably what the guy was thinking about.

Just an update for anyone following this. I order and revived the model 12 LRP last Sunday. Now for new bottom metal, scope rings and base... then onto load development. Any starting points would be appreciated. I am hoping to run the 140 A-Max, pushed by H4831SC, out of a lapua case all touched of by CCI BR-2. So if you have a simpler load it would give me a good starting point.

I bought the 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor just after Christmas for $900 even. It is a dog killer. Very accurate, light recoil, and they fold like paper. I cant wait til next deer season!
