best 1000 yard scope

I have 450 dollars to spend ive narrowed it down to 3 scopes.
Nikon Monarch, nikon buckmaster or zeis conquest.
I really want a more powerful scope than a 3-9 and all i can afford in the zeiss is the 3-9x40. Is that powerful enough to see at 1000 yards? I can get a monarch in like a 4.5-16 but are they as clear?
I dont want it so powerful that i cant hunt with it. I tried out a 4.5-14 buckmaster at academy the other day its $309 and the optics are no zeiss but believe me they are no slouch. What about elevation? Do these scopes have enough ? AAAAHHHHH!!!!! Im going crazy here help.

What kind of round are you going to be shooting for your 1000yd scope? Most really good scopes in the $450 dollar price range will do the job. I own a Millet BuckGold 6-25x56. Only prob is I dont have a 1000yd range to test the capabilities of the scope as far as enough MOA internal adjustments. If my scope doesn't have enough, Ill just buy a 20moa base. Ill cross that bridge when I get there.

As far as your decision is concerned, I would go with the Vortex Viper series scope. Viper Series 4-12x40mm PA Rifle Scope. It has 92 moa of internal adjustment, and can be had for less than $450.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

+1 for the Vortex. I don't own one, but when put up against my Bushnell 6-24x 50mm end bell 30mm tube mil dot. it looks clearer and seems to track as well for less money

What kind of 1000y shooting are you planning on doing?

How close will you be shooting deer?

Two different sports.

Another vote for the Vortex. Probably the best long range scope in that price range.

Hey
Guys i know this is an old post but ,im shooting a Stevens 200 300 win mag.
I still havent bought a scope for 1000 yard shooting yet but i bought a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40
for hunting. I ve put 100 rounds of core lock 180 grn threw my steven so far and the redfield so far has proven faithful. I would never take a shot over 300 yards on a deer the 1000 yards scope is gona be for punching paper only.
Thanks Matt

If you really wanted a scope that you could use for hunting and long distance target shooting, where your range is from inside 100m to 1000m I would say the Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30X50. Its the only scope that I can think of that has the variable power for the kind of shooting you want to do. Only problem is you would have to double the amount of money you want for the scope.

There is a heck of a sale going on right now at midwayusa and natchezss on the elite 3200's and 4200's. I like them or the monarchs about the same. Heard good stuff on the vipers. If you're going to be dialing your turrets to shoot at 1000, you definitly want to compare adjustment ranges. Many competitors shoot at 1000 yards with a fixed 10. I think 24 or so would be plenty considering your price range and intended use. If you were only going to shoot past 500 yards or so, I'd suggest you check out a weaver t36 or something along those lines.

A good 3X9 can get you out to 1000 yards (I have done it many times); however, you ideally want a little more power than that. As others have mentioned, I would strongly recommend taking a good look at the Vortex line of scopes.

Vortex offers an unlimited lifetime warranty & per their website “If you ever have a problem, no matter the cause, we promise to take care of you”. This warranty could come in handy, especially if you are going to dial your dope.

Check out the Elite 4200 tactical 6-24x50 on clearance at Natchez. Around $450. For a much more budget friendly scope that is a definite "best buy" look at the Vortex 8-24x50 Crossfire @ SWFA. The glass is very clear and the turrets are nice and positive. Adjustments are repeatable. Best part is the $99 price tag. I own one of each of these and I'm seriously considering another one or two of the Crossfires.

Re: best 1000 yard scope

Does the Vortex Crossfire have the generous MOA adjustments that Vortex owners seem to mention, or is that limited to the Viper series? In other words, how much MOA adjustment do I have to play with on a Crossfire? The SWFA website does not elaborate.

Mine has about 69 moa total. It's the 1 inch tube 6-24x50 crossfire. The 30mm tube 6-24x50 crossfire has 75 moa according to Vortex's website.

It's 18 MOA per revolution of the elevation turret. Stopping when the tension changes even just a little bit, I get 4.5 revolutions.

My Viper 2-7x32 has 96 MOA of elevation adjustment...sadly my .308MX needed it all to get close to zeroed...@ 100 yds

Bang for the buck.....Konus M-30 8 X 32 retail for about $450. Street price about $350. It's a very good scope for the money.

I have a Mark II Luepold 6x18 that is pretty nice with Mil-dot reticle. Think they are called Mark AR now. The standard VXII in the same power is pretty good. Not the best for either use but a pretty good compromise! Not all that big or heavy and I have no complaints with the glass either. In your price range if you shop around. lp

I'm sorry didn't see you had it narrowed to 3 scopes. Guess I didn't help much throwin another in the mix. Don't know much bout the others so I left my post in.
