I took my second buck this morning. It was another cull buck that I'd been watching on the game cameras and was wanting to remove from the herd. He fell to my Savage .243 Winchester, with a strike to the neck by a hand loaded Sierra 100 grain ProHunter, 36.2 grains of I-4064, detonated by a Federal Match 210 primer. The range was a lasered 128 yards; he fell within his own shadow. I've started using neck shots over the last couple of years because the weeds have gotten so high on the property I hunt, that recovery of animals that run more than 20-30 yards away is very difficult.
