    cold weather shooting ?

wondering if anyone else goes out in the cold to shoot ?

I use a hand warmer to keep fingers from freezing.. And I

usually have the range all to myself, which is nice...

Yeah, I go out in the cold, which here in South Texas is like 40*

If the temp gets back up to 40* I'd be happy to go back out an finish some load development. I got stopped by that cold front that dropped temps below zero and highs in the single digits. Winter is too long in Colorado not to shoot. I just try to pick the days when it's not miserable, those days are reserved for hunting.

Yes, I shoot in the cold but it is not much fun. I do like having the range to my self.

Looks like you have had a heat wave several days so far this month. In fact, more than half your days have been a heat wave. I'm with Wildboarem, if I waited for just the days above 40 I wouldn't be able to do any shooting. Let alone do any hunting. Let's not even talk about the wind chill either. Thank God, the next few days look like they will find me out looking for coyotes. The last week has a bit brisk, but it didn't stop the hunting. We got up to 30 degrees recently and shorts almost made an appearance.

Went out yesterday and checked the zero on my 6WSM. 5 shots was all my hands could take before I had to go to the truck and warm back up. 30mph gusts and 12 degrees doesn't fair well on bare hands. On the plus side I was able to hold all 5 shots in a 1/2" group directly to POA. Rifle deer season here I come.

I shoot every Sunday. Our shoot house has a big wood burning stove and it gets USED. Only time I don't go is if there is a snow storm falling ( flurries don't count).

Last week end a bunch of us gathered up in Detroit Michigan and shot a two yardage match at WWCCA. Match started at 9am and finished at 3pm, during the day average temperature was 19, at the end of the match it got up to 22. They have another match in January.

Cowboy Action Shooting - headed to NW LA Saturday morning for a match. Temps are supposed to be 31° Friday night warming up to 60° Saturday - I hope early. Will have some chemical handwarmers in my pockets for my hands.

Last time I went shooting outdoors this year it was a balmy 12 degrees. I'll probably shoot indoors for the next couple months.

this year was the perfect winter for me. nice fall foilage then cool weather for the deer opener with some snow.
then some more snow the week after the season which saw me indoors cleaning guns and such. lots of woodsmoke
odors from the stove. now back in warm weather cleaning the boat and preparing for fishing.
a month of winter is about perfect for me.

It got above 35° yesterday. Had to go outside and shoot!! Can't wait for spring. The brass will have to sit on the ground until then. Too much snow.
