Hornady GMX or Nosler E-Tip ?

    Update;
I have desided to go with the GMX, for a few reasons.
However I can not seem to find anyone that has them in stock.
    Looking for .308, 165gr.

    Subject: 30-06
Target: Pig Hunt in Lead Free zone

Right now my prefered bullet is Sierra 165SBT, but I need a Lead Free Substitute.
    So GMX or E-Tip
Which is the better bullet ?
    Which is more accurate ?

Have you decided completely against Barnes TSX or TTSX? I have gotten sub moa groups with the TSX in all the rifles I have loaded them for.

    +2 on the TTSX
I load 'em into my .300WBY at 2950fps and they are devistating for moose. Pigs are tough animals and the TSX's are tough bullets and very accurate.

The 165gr TSX is only $3.50 more per 50ct than the 165GMX and $4 than the 150gr Nosler. Plus they are proven bullets. The others may be good, but the TSX is known to be great.

There are at least 3 of us any way ;D I am pretty sure I know more hunters that use them than those who don't.

Make it +4 on the TSX. Have not tried the TTSX yet. Accurate penetrators. Seemed easy to get good hunting groups with on a couple of my rifles. Used the TSX in Africa on 8 plains game animals and was impressed.

Make that +5 for the TSX or TTSX. Never had a cartridge/rifle not shoot it well, and the advantage I see over the GMX and the E-Tip is the TSX is more likely to hold all of it's petals than the gilded metal 'knock offs' (I am a Nosler Fan too, but....)

Put a TTSX through near the lungs of a critter and you'll be a believer too! I made a bad shot once on a whitetail (Rookie mistake, I aimed at fur rather than the vitals) and I hit fur, then paunch, then more fur. The Barnes bullet tracked through the paunch about three inches behind the diaphragm, never entering the heart lung area but the lungs were still turned to liquid and pulverized. I wondered why the bullet worked so well for several years. I couldn't figure it out until I saw some video of the TSX going through ballistics gel. Watch the push/pull effect of those petals rotating through the gel and I think it's obvious how much damage those petals do in living tissue; way more than the diameter of the expanded bullet would indicate. I hate the idea of loosing petals like the recovered GMX and E-Tips are reported to do. My two cents is the extra $4 per box is worth it.

If you do pick the E-Tip, I'd love to hear a report. I live near enough to the Nosler plant that I can work in a camping trip once or twice a year and visit them and usually buy some overruns for pretty cheap.

We are talking about hunting bullets, aren't we? How many do you expect to shoot each year? There are no cheap alternatives to lead core bullets that I know of.
