How did you get a bolt head without an FFL? Or do you have an ffl?
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
I'll qualify this response to only refer to bolt action rifles. The only piece on these rifles which must go through an ffl is the action itself. Everything else on the rifle does not.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
I had to sign a liability release form today for a recoil lug retaining pin, go figure.
I did need write a letter to Savage saying I would release them of all liability, which I did !Did Savage change their policy just recently?I had to sign a liability release form today for a recoil lug retaining pin, go figure.
In the past, maybe more than a year ago, I was told NO on purchasing certain parts, and only a FFL could order certain parts, like the ones mentioned above.
Maybe certain employees didn't completely understand Savage Parts Policies selling to the public.
Anyway, the info above is good to know.

Has to be a recent policy change with Savage. As Dennis noted, you used to have to have an FFL to be able to purchase a good number of parts from Savage. Could be one of the first changes we're seeing under the new ATK ownership.

I would imagine since your can purchase all manner of AR parts from bolts, to pins, to custom internals and don't need an FFl, it was time to change policy.

Took off the one on the gun that was manufactured in 2010, and installed the one that has the screws in the bottom.
Adjusted the sear engagement so it is crisp, and set poundage to a 2 lbs. Even though this is a bench gun, I still like the trigger at about 2lbs.
The safety did not work, it took about a full turn to have things function normally. The safety is a little tight so I'm sure when it is on safe, it is safe ! Half notch safe work just fine also !
