Brand New Savage 12 vlp 223 rem magazine loading problem

    Hello!

I'm new, both to this forum and as a Savage owner, so please forgive me for a very basic question.

My previous rifle experience is limited to my Marlin 39A 22, and am totally new to my new Savage 12 VLP DBM 223 rem, model 18464. I haven't loaded or shot it yet... just getting to know it with snap caps right now.

Now my question is this: I am having a little bit of difficulty loading my snap caps into the magazine. They are of the correct type, but it just seems to me that the magazine should be a little easier to load. I never want to force anything (a good reason to start with snap caps), but it just seems that the "ammo" should load into the magazine easier.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Tom M

Buy some ammo and try it. The snap caps are probably the issue.
I have never used snap caps in a rifle, but then again I can shoot in my backyard.
