Great pics. Ive watched the videos from ARC on YouTube. The thought that went into this action is unbelievable. I hope he can sell alot of them so the price goes down a little bit. Penetration into the precision shooters competition will likely be the hardest part as all the shooters there basically use a Rem700 action, no matter what brand it is.
People are catching on after they the ones using them in the hide cup this year had no issues throughout the entire course of fire.
How much have you single shot it? Are you just dropping them in the port on top of the magazine and closing the bolt?
I want to be able to use mine for FTR and varmint silhouette also. I think if I get one I may just get one of the Choate adjustable stocks for it. How heavy is it? I wonder if I can make weight with it, 30" bull barrel and the Choate.
I would put it in something better than a choate. I haven't weighed it, my configuration is about 12-13lbs as pictured. Yes I just throw them in on the mad when single loading. Usually on the fly when one more shot is needed passed mag capacity.
I'm not for sure if I'll go with the Choate. I do like it on my one rifle, I still might go with a chassis I just want to make sure I could make weight. I'm still trying to find out lead time on it. Good to hear you can just drop one in and get after it.

Ive seen some pretty hardcore Rem700 fanboys play this action down like its nothing good, it uses Savage threaded barrels, blah blah blah, pretty much anything to detract from the fact its an excellent design. They literally took the best of every type of action, improved on it, and put it in one package.
If I had a reason to build a competition rifle, this is what I would run. For the plinking I do, my Model 10 is good enough at the moment.

If they're saying it's nothing special they've never played with one. Secondly, you can shoulder a barrel with Savage threads the exact same way you shoulder a barrel with Remington threads. Only difference is the thread pattern. People are just so mechanically ignorant they don't understand that it's just a thread pattern.
Reason Ted went with the Savage thread pattern was to provide a larger amount of options to the shooter. You can also swap bolt heads with this action like a Savage. It's the end all be all only need one for the rest of your life!
I prefer the finer thread pitch due to how much less input force needed to reach the proper torque. The ability to use prefit barrels is awesome, let alone the pile of barrels I already have.

Did you have the DLC (diamond-like carbon) surface treatment done to the action? I could not tell from the pics. If so, what did you think of it.

I think I'm going to Cerakote mine Magpul dark earth.
I'm shooting matches every weekend right now, so I haven't yet. Pretty dry in California so light coat of oil goes a long way. Supposed to be moving to North Carolina though and will only be about 2hrs from the shop that does it. It will get coated for the humidity there.
I won't do cerakote unless the individual is familiar with the M5. I don't want to lose any of its smoothness. The DLC will actually make it even smoother and is more resistant than cerakote.

Another note for you. There is a break in period for the bolt lift. It was pretty heavy at first, but after a couple months of almost daily dry fire practice, a match just about every weekend, and a slight mod adding a 1/8" crush washer under the bolt knob. I can run the bolt with 2 fingers now. Lift/pull with my index and push/lock with my thumb. It's so fast at first you can almost forget you just chambered another round. It's so smooth that at times I didn't realize the mag was empty while I was getting used to it.
You're going to be blown away by it. Everyone that has played with mine lights up when they operate the bolt because they've never felt a bolt action like it. Guys that shoot surgeon/defiance actions sit there and try to convince themselves (and me) that the surgeon is just as fast and smooth. They're close, but not the same.
