    110 bolt differences


    Hey guys I was having problems with light primer strikes.well I used some thick oil for bolt lube and it worked its way onto the firing pin.I disassembled the bolt cleaned and reasemmbled.I put the bolt head on 180 off so it wasn't extracting lol so I went through the process again.when I put I back together I lost a piece.and I can't find a pic of my bolt online. Mine goes bas,spring,spacer (the part i lost) spring,then remove cocking pin? Then the firing pin slides out and that's it. There is no long spring in the middle like all the other pics. Its a savage 110 hunter .300wm. I'm just looking for a layout or parts list thank you.

    Sorry its a 111 hunter xp. Thank you for that site.where do I find the series? They don't list a xp I looked through all the 111 with no match. Going to look through them all but they all don't have schematics.

    OK I've searched all schematics I looked up my schematic with ser# they still dont match what my bolt has. Ive searched Google images I can't find anything.I called savage they said I have a three piece firing pin spring set?but wouldn't tell me part #s because I need a Ffl or send them a fax saying there not responsible.I'm going to take a pic and post it tonight.

    BTW, The XP is equipped with an inexpensive scope and outside of that there is not much mechanically different from other models. Only the axis is different in the centerfire category.

    Oh I know that's why its driving me crazy about the bolt.I've seen all the pics and you tube videos on savage 110/111 bolts and none of them are like mine.

    OK so I figured it out!!!! Stangfish your a genious lol I guess I have a axis bolt in my 111 I just watched a youtube bid of a guy disassembling a axis/edge bolt and that's exactly what I have. I know for sure its a 111 and not a axis when I called Savage they confirmed lol. Has anyone else seen this??

    No. I haven't. I also have the XP in .260. I had no idea it has the Axis bolt. Did not know it was possible. Not sure if I am happy about it, either, if that is what I have. Wait, mine is a Trophy Hunter XP... maybe it isn't the axis bolt. Interesting, though.

    Nope. But I just edited my last post... mine is a TROPHY Hunter XP... not sure if that makes a difference.

    Don't have a cow.....The Trophy Hunters and other low end rifles now use the 1 pc. firing pin and 3 pc. spring arrangement that started out on the Axis/Edge rifles.
    The original Edge rifles used a single spring with a tail on it to lock the cocking piece pin in place. The problem was the opposite end rubs hard on the inside of the bolt assembly screw that it would "unwind" the spring, creating torque that would actually lift the bolt.
    The solution was to make the spring in 3 parts: the forward spring had the tail for licking the pin, then there was a single ring to act as a bearing, and finally the rear spring that was wound in the opposite direction.
    From the way it sounds, you have lost the middle ring.

    Yes sir I have lost the middle ring.I was just aggravated I couldn't figure out what bolt I had. Do u happen to have a part number for that piece?
