Question Question on bedding 10 Trophy Hunter XP wood stock

I'm going to bed my 10 Trophy Hunter XP stock soon but have a question on what to do with the pillars.

I'm planning on leaving the factory pillars in place. Should I grind them down to the same depth as the rest of the inlet area? Or should I inlet around them and leave their height alone?

I've been watching a number of bedding videos and have seen both done, but none were on Savage actions on wood stocks.

    Thanks.

Leave them alone, there are what controls the critical height of the magazine placement.

The weather finally warmed up enough to work on bedding the rifle. It's a good thing I didn't plan on changing the factory pillars as there is no room for thicker walled ones

I also found out that the top of the front pillar was actually below the stock inletting so the action was resting on wood in the front. but on the pillar in the rear.

So the work is done and now I wait to see whether or not I've built myself a permanently attached stock rifle.

One additional note. When I removed the trigger group I was prepared to catch the sear spring as I pulled the pin. But it turns out that the spring is set in a milled slot and is fully captured so reassembly will be no problem at all.
