    Convert a 110, 243, LA to a 257 Roberts - best way?

OK, before I was thinking over converting my 110 to a 6.5x55. Now, I'm thinking of converting it to 257 Roberts. Mine is the long action 243. I tried putting a 30-06 in the bag box and it won't fit. I don't have any 257, so I'll look up the OAL of the 257 and just mic the box.

I could have a 257 barrel made for it. Are there any other issues?

I'd say from the amount of responses you got, there are no issues.

Use a mag from a 270/3006 and your good to go or single feed it. I converted a 270 LA into 6mm Rem which is that same case dimension as a 257 Bob. Get a barrel and your good to go. Tim

Thanks guys. Now all I need is some ammo. I really have to stop buying/converting guns to ammo I don't have! I see a reloader in my future, but not right away.

Any recommendations on where to get a barrel? I was thinking if I could get screw on, I would just have a gunsmith do it. I won't be doing more of these, so buying the tools, etc. might not be worth it.

    Reading is Fundamental....
So is a paid subscription so you can use the classified section. 92.4% of my Savage & Axis parts, supplies & goodies come from there.

Lots of good deals this time of year, too!

Ps - There's a real nice barrel nut wrench in the classifieds that would look great on your new reloading bench...
    Cheap, too.
