Just checked a 308 barrel and 243 barrel off of BVSS's. Both are .820" at muzzle.

Cool.Thanks. Just ordered a BVSS stock for my build . It looks like if I stick with a barrel with a .820 muzzle diameter i shouldnt have to open up the barrel channel any.

The BVSS has a pretty generous channel opening (or at least the one I had did). Should be a great fit. Opening the channel is not a huge deal though, but I totally understand not wanting too. I have been waiting on buying a new stock for a 110 build in hopes that Boyds will start offering their "Thumbhole Varmint" LA stocks with a Varmint sized channel rather than a sporter channel just so I don't have to open it myself. LOL.

How large a barrel do you think I can get in there and still be free floating ?

as big as you want, within reason of course......LOL

if it needs floating just use a pc of 1" dowel rod or pvc and wrap some 60 grit sandpaper around it and open the channel up a bit. Doesnt take long.
