Help!! Hard to eject unfired rounds.

I can close the bolt fine. The bolt will cam open fine just can't get to open without slapping the bolt handle. When it opens I have a strong ejection of live round. It will eject a fired round just fine.

sounds a little like bullet sticking in the lands. Are you loading a little long? Maybe the bullet is jamming into the lands. just a thought.

Either loaded to a too long OAL jamming in the lands, or headspace issue as stated above.

Are you FL sizing or Neck sizing?

I'm fl sizing. If I was into the lands wouldn't it be hard to close the bolt?

I'm taking it to the smith and get him to look at the headspace.

No not necessarily. I have had some that closed just fine and would act just as you describe, not wanting to pop on out without some help. It all depends on how far they are jamming in there, and it doesn't take much to create enough resistance to require a slight pop on the bolt handle to extract.

Having your die set to short can push the shoulder up a few thousandths. It could be either way. If the bullet is in the lands you will see marks on the bullet. If not color it up real good with a black Magic Marker.

Sounds like a brass problem to me. How many loads are on the brass? Could be under resizing or over resizing or the brass may need annealing.

Loading your rounds too hot can cause that problem also. What bullet, powder, and load are you using?

Oh, and if you don't have one already, get you one of these:

The op never said what his load is. If reloaded a few times the case length could be getting a bit long and starting to jam into the front of the chamber.

Kinda like this huh? Play close attention the bolt body movement raising the bolt to the unlocked position before and after.

Doh! Just engaged the correct side of my brain and realized this was a problem with ejection of a LIVE round.

    Forget everything I said.
