I think what Jody was trying to convey is that far too many people put too much emphasis on how smooth a bore is - especially factory Savage bores. They think that just because it's a little rough and fouls more means that it's bad and it's somehow affecting accuracy. The reality is that rough bores can shoot just as well as hand-lapped ones, just the same as bowed bores can shoot just as well as perfectly straight ones. In other words, a lot of people seem to spend a lot of time worrying about these non-issues.
