Looks good. I like the way you are thinking out of the box.
Have you thought of using some sort of epoxy or something similar to fill in the gaps?
So here's my attempt at making a better bolt knob for my budget axis build.
I started out by drilling and taping a hole in the knob for a 1/4-20 bolt.
Next up was shaping it up with a grinder and flapper disc.
I then added a 1/4 shallow well socket to it and started shaping it up.

Thanks, yes im going to epoxy the joint,sand, and paint it. I'll post pics when its finished.

any suggestions on paint?
I usually stick with krylon and rustoleum camo paints. and then use rustoleum matte clear. even worked on my barrel without issue! Just the matte black.
You can see a small divot were I filled the epoxy in that I need to refill and sand out. It will have to wait. Stock comes in tomorrow and I plan on sighting it in.
