You may need to tweak the feed lips on the magazine but maybe not. You want to check your firing pin protrusion anytime you change the bolt head. Somewhere between 40 to 45 is probably good. Maybe someone with a better number will chime in.
I have a new to me SS 116 long action, standard magnum, staggered feed, I know I have to change the bolt head is there anything else I will need to change? I want to go to a 6.5x284 Norma. What's the best trigger? the rifle will be used for hunting only

You will have to see if the magnum box works other wise a std 30-06 box will be the ticket.I like the sss competition trigger and I also have had great luck with the sav-2 rifle basix.Sometimes you cant get the sss trigger.Brownells sells both.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

According to sharpshooter, .035" is optimum
