    300 Sav 99EG Non-Scientific Rem 150CL vs Hornady 150SST Test

Went to the range today for deer season preps. I usually shoot 150 Rem CL but I have 2 boxes of SST I bought earlier this year so I took some with me.

100 yard bench and the Rem 150 CL's are circled in red. First 2 were high-right as expected thru a clean & oily bore, so no adjustment. Next 2 were a nice group 4" right - adjustment made. Next 4 were as good as my gun gets.

Then I shot 5 SST's. I pulled the one way off to the left due to hot 5.56 brass bouncing off my head. The other 4 were minute of deer, but not too spectacular.

My 300EG has a lot of modifications including a 20" barrel instead of the original 24" which could explain it. Supposedly the way Hornady gets the extra velocity without drastically increasing pressure is slower burning power.

In any case I'm sticking with Rem 150 CL's.

That bucks ticker won't know the difference in the bullet anyways, every shot on there will take out his motor.
