    Muzzle Brake

Have a model 12 lrp in 260 remington, want to put a muzzle break on it . The barrel is not threaded, are the clamp on brakes any good or should i just thread the barrel ? Its nots so much for the recoil it more for muzzle jump when you shoot it. Have a remmington 700 in 308 with a brake and its very stable.

Had a good friend that recently received one that was machined just slightly off center and blew the thing off the end of his rifle. Turned out they sent him the incorrect one! I personally would not use a clamp on and would spend the money to have the barrel threaded. His incident could have been much worst! However, there are thoughs that are having good luck with them.

    I don't have one of these, http://kahntrol.com/

But have seen him install them on-site at bangsteel.com practice matches, and the results reported by the owners of the rifles were quite good.

Mr. Kahn always states "I've never taken one off once the owner has tried it".

    Whoops...That coulda been ugly.

    I put a $33.00 Ebay special http://www.ebay.com/itm/308-308-TPI-...item417658e78f
on my FCP-SR (threaded), and it has worked great thus far for muzzle flip.

Myself, I do prefer threaded brakes.
Just a tad more secure in my feeble mind.

That's my feeling as well! He was just lucky there was only slight damage to the end of his barrel and it didn't blow up in his face instead!

Harrells indeed! They cannot be beat for the price - work superbly also.

Ross Schuler, in Idaho. Great brakes at a great price.
