is that a mode 11 or a model 111 ?

Likewise, all .308 are short. ( .308's are the short version of the 30-06. )
That being said, one can make a long action rifle fire a short action cartridge; but a short action rifle cannot be made to fire a long action cartridge.
That does not mean you can shoot a .308 in an action built for 30-06.( Whatever you have, it is designed for a specific cartridge) It means the long actions can be altered to fire a specific long or short action cartridge. Short actions can only be altered to fire different shorts.

That just means they offer it in both short and long action models.
What is it chambered for? If it is a .30-06 length cartridge then it will be a 111 if it is a .223/.308 length cartridge then it is an 11. Some parts fit both universally some do not. If the part you want involves the stock, bolt or magazine then you'll need to get action specific.
I don't know how I missed the .30-06 in your first post. Makes yours a 111 TH.

Yours is 111. Many parts will fit both 11 and 111's (long and short actions) . Barrels, for example, do not care if they are mounted to a long or short action. Stocks, however, are built long or short, depending upon the size of the action that sits in them.
All 30-06 cartridges in this world require "long actions" (111) because they are too long to fit inside of a short action, no matter how many parts you change inside of it.
You will see people refer to 11/111 because they want you to know the style of the gun... if they specify "11" it means it is a short action version of the 11/111 model. If they specify "111" it is the long version of the same model. If it says 11/111 it will work for long and short versions. If they also indicate the cartridge, (in this case, a long action cartridge) , then you know for certain the gun MUST have a long action. Therefore, it is 111. It would be better if they just called it what it is, either 11 or 111. But sometimes it does not matter, because an aftermarket product, for example, will work with either one.
All you have to know is yours is a 111. In other words, yours is a long action version of the Savage model 11/111.
We know this because a 30-06 cartridge is too long to even fit inside a short action. Sometimes short action cartridges like the 308 or 223 can be fired in rifles with long actions that have been altered to allow short cartridges. Short actions cannot be altered to accept long cartridges. Yours is long.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that there were factory 308's and other short action calibers made on the 110/long action receiver prior to the introduction of the 10/short action receiver coming onto the scene. I thought I read that somewhere.
That is correct. I should not have said all .308's have short actions. All NEW factory-built .308's are currently built with a short action.
I hope my point is still understood.
Savage used to make just the long action and they had every cartridge fit to it. Now they make long and short actions. They did this to confuse new customers. Firearms companies have a weird sense of humor.
