no,the receivers are not hardened steel. I have drilled and tapped the side of them to mount lasers before
I picked up a savage 110ba mirs rail that I.am looking to mount on my 111. The holes line up perfectly but the screws are slightly larger. Now I could drill out and tap to a larger size but arnt the recievers hardened steel? Or I could use longer screws that fit my action and fit a bushing to take up the space from using smaller screws. What ya guys think?

Ya'll hang on I'm gonna drive closer
The front bridge of the action is heat treated. It is harder but still can be drilled and tapped.
The BA rail is meant for 8-40 screws. The best option is to get your action tapped for the bigger screws. You'll have to remove the barrel since the most forward hole is located above the barrel tennon.

Geargrinder where at in northern nevada are ya? I guess I will just wait to drill and tap once hunting season is over since it requires taking off the barrel.
I live in Dayton, but work in Carson City. But I've lived all over the state at one time or another.
