B&C Savage, LA, Medalist, Blind Mag, Stagger Feed, Right Hand.

Hey fellas, thought I would let you know that I finally finished up the tooling for the #2980 Savage stock.

    Part #2980
LA, Medalist, Blind Mag, Stagger Feed, Right Hand, Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, checkering and Cheek pc.

Unfortunately no plans on the Staggerfeed model, DM, or Hinged floorplate. Fingers crossed they will come shortly.

    gunner75,
I am assuming you work for B&C???

I am surprised to see you just came out with a staggerfeed model when all the current production Savages are centerfeeds, but hey, we'll take it.. We can still use a centerfeed blind mag model in this stock, but we'll just have to cut the notch for the "L" bracket that holds in the rear of the magbox. The action screw spacing is the same.

There's still a TON of older LA's out there so it's sure to be a seller.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I am working on making an "in house" conversion so this can be ordered either way, or one stock fits both. Ran into a little snag today on it, so the Centerfeed is still up in the air. Hopefully have this ironed out in the morning.

Thanks Wade. I thought it may have been you, but didnt recognize your site name.

I had emailed you a while back about this very subject(and more-so about the centerfeed SA), and you told me it has been considered but not perfected yet. This was about a year ago.

You now have the Medalist in both short action styles, and look like you're well on your way with the long actions as well.

Wish this happened 6 mnths ago. I'd probably still have my LA. I sold it to build a SA on one of your Medalists. But I'm happy now so it's all good....LOL

Thank you for working to help fill our wants/needs.

Had plans to build the following, but had to put them on the back burner.

LA CF HVY BBL, Varmint Tactical
    LA CF STD BBL, Sporter
    SA CF STD BBL, Sporter
    .22 HVY BBL Stock
    .17 HVY BBL Stock

Still going to try and fit one in here and there.

Thanks to great sites such as this, I have received some great input on what is hot first, and what guys are shooting.
    Stay tuned!

OK fellas. Just reviewed this in full this morning. Our bedding block for this model vs the mag well that is required to make the center feed work is off a bit.

The rear of the magwell in the 2980 would need to be cut back .150".
The area above the rear screw hole in the stock would need to be cut to accept the retainer.
There would need to be a .260 shim (or bedding) in front of the mag box to take up the space and allow the mag box to hold tight in the inletting.

Without actually testing this I cannot confirm that this will work 100%, but the numbers and measurements look correct.

I will post further progress as I come along with this.

If it does, I can finally try Medalists on a few of my 110 actions. Any info on when they'll be available?

    It ain't happening, Hawk.

I pester Bell & Carlson on Facebook about once a month about making the M40 Medalist for Savage SA and LA (even if only current centerfeed DBM configuration), or at LEAST the A2 Medalist for 110 long actions.

"Its on the list to do" is always the response...

I sure wish they would make one. I'm new here a d wanting to build a varmint on a LA and love these stocks! They would sell enough of them.

I don't really see many options for me it's frustrating. Staggerfeed blind mag is what I have. It looks like Choate is about the only ones and I want to be able to shoot offhand - so nothing that heavy! I have heard good things about the Duramaxx but can't find them anywhere that don't say discontinued. Starting to get bummed out over this. The SA has all the support!
